A collection of materials pertaining to General Paul Carlton's thirty-five years of military experience. Included are official records which contain his flight logs and topical files with information on Carlton's visits to various bases as part of his official duties. Correspondence, speeches given by him during his career,and details of three Senior Statesmen conferences attended by Carlton are also included. Documents and class materials from his attendance at the National War College are also contained in the collection. The collection concludes with large scrapbooks which document Carlton's career through the different bases to which he was assigned.

Curtis Emerson LeMay (November 15, 1906 – October 1, 1990) was an American Air Force general who implemented an effective but controversial strategic bombing campaign in the Pacific theater of World War II. Paul K. Carlton was born in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1921, attended the University of Pittsburgh and Ohio University, and entered the Army Air Corps aviation cadet program in 1941. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant and received his pilot wings in 1942. Carlton served as an instructor pilot until 1944, then flew the B-29 from India and China against the Japanese in World War II.
